Singapore Launches New Public-Private Partnership to Strengthen Business Competitiveness in the Climate Transition

If you run a business in Singapore, this is something you should be aware of.

Singapore has launched the Council for a Competitive Climate Transition (C3T), a new public-private platform designed to help businesses build climate resilience and navigate the transition to a low-carbon economy. The framing is deliberate: this is not about compliance. It is about staying competitive.

The council was jointly launched by the National Climate Change Secretariat (NCCS) and the Singapore Business Federation (SBF) and will be co-chaired by Ravi Menon, Singapore's Ambassador for Climate Action, and Kok Ping Soon, SBF's Chief Executive Officer.

So what does C3T do for businesses? It gives companies a structured space to provide feedback on and co-develop government-led climate initiatives, including the National Adaptation Plan and sectoral transition plans, that help businesses plan ahead and secure their longer-term competitiveness.

The timing makes sense. Businesses that reduce their carbon emissions are more resilient against global energy shocks. As climate change intensifies, companies that understand and manage their physical climate risks,  like higher temperatures and extreme weather, protect their assets, operations, workforce, and supply chains.

The launch also aligns with Singapore's designation as the Year of Climate Adaptation, pushing industries to take climate challenges seriously.

The message is clear that climate transition isn't a distraction from business priorities. It is central to them.

For SMEs wondering where to begin, this is the signal. The support structures are being built. The question is whether your business will be ready to use them.
